Please note that the American College of Ob/Gyn has recommended that all Caucasians should undergo a Cystic Fibrosis Genetic Carrier Screen prior to conception. This is based on a 1 in 25 chance of being a carrier for C.F., the most common lethal genetic disease in Caucasians. Other ethnic groups should consult with their Ob/Gyn about what other tests are available for them. Examples of these include Sickle Cell screen for African Americans and Tay Sachs disease screening for Jewish couples.
